Intuitive Ribbon Interface and Wizards
An intuitive ribbon interface integrated with Excel 2007 guides you through the steps in creating a project or modifying the database, statements, and/or time period definitions. There are wizards for all of the major steps. The ribbon interface also makes it easy to jump to any statement in different open projects, and to switch between Financial Genome and standard Excel. The ribbon interface is accessible anytime Financial Genome is active as an Excel add-in.

Pre-structured, Customizable Statements
Financial Genome's built-in customizable statements provide four different views of your data: an accounting
view, a business performance view (ratios), a forecasting (projection) view, and
an economic view (economic profit and cost of capital - Consultant Edition
only).
-
The accounting view includes an Income
Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Statement
and Statement of Changes in Shareholders' Equity
-
The business performance view includes a Ratios
Statement (a systematic collection of standard business ratios) and a Business
Performance Analysis (a Dupont ratio tree - Consultant Edition only)
-
The forecasting view provides tools to set up and
implement a financial forecast
-
The economic view includes a NOPAT Analysis,
Capital Base Analysis, Cost of Capital Analysis and Economic Profit Analysis
(Consultant Edition only)
You can edit (customize) the built-in statements
using Financial Genome's tools, or create your own statements - never
having to write formulas!
Free-form, Ad Hoc Analysis Functionality
Built-in knowledge sets Financial Genome apart from similar applications.
Unlike "hard-wired" templates, you are free to insert any combination of
terms onto a statement.
You are free to rearrange financial terms on your analysis statements, change
time periods (but not the time period unit), perform automatic summaries, format
data, and use many of the other functions Excel provides.
Powerful features allow you to
"alias" (rename) terms, "duplicate," "itemize," and manipulate terms in other
useful ways.
You can generate fully customized statements and analyses.
You can supply new data for terms and override data obtained from the
original data file. When you rearrange your analysis, the data associated with
your terms move with the terms wherever you place them in your analysis
statements. If you want to revert to the original data in the data file,
Financial Genome will restore those original values, no matter where a
term has been placed in an analysis.
All knowledge accompanies
the terms; there is no need for you to enter formulas into worksheet cells.
You always have access to Excel’s many features (formatting, charting, printing, etc.).
Data Access and Mapping with GenomeLink
Besides allowing you to enter data directly on statements you select, Financial Genome assists you in
connecting to your Excel data file and retrieving the necessary data for your
analysis.
With GenomeLink (FGPro and Consultant Edition only), you can map your database terms to Financial
Genome's built-in terms. Thereafter, data access and retrieval is
automatically performed. In Financial Genome Pro the mapping to QuickBooks file is
performed automatically. If required data are missing, Financial Genome will
indicate this and you can manually input the necessary data.
You always work with an intermediate, dynamic data set ("Input Sheet") that updates as you
change your analysis. Financial Genome will save user input, but can restore overridden data from your data source,
leaving your data base unchanged. Financial Genome indicates the data source by displaying each
in a different color.
